Me and Em moved into this space in Eccles, Manchester back in 2018, we took it from an empty magnolia box, to a beautiful creative space. Two shooting studios, an office and a cupboard of doom (also known as the prop cupboard). In 2022 we started to hire it out to other teams, and has now has a duel creative purpose.

BEFORE

AFTER

It wasn’t a fast or easy process to renovate our space, it happened over a number of years. We new it was going to be difficult to heat (who hasn’t worked in a cold studio) but we didn’t really feel the full affects of that till out first winter in there in 2018. But while we worked and grew our business in it we understood what needed to improve and what made this space feel so special.

While in my second year at university I was fortunate to start working as a photography assistant. I had never been in a studio environment like what I walked into on my first shoot with Mat, it was this dark, open space with cool furniture, a kitchen, portfolios on a table, a soft-box on the boom which created an atmosphere I still to this day can remember. I was hooked on studio life from that moment, this cave of creativity just seamed so cool to me, the shoots I assisted on, the teams I met, made a real impression on me and now having a studio of our own, still feels like a dream.

THE DETAILS_

Em has a super good eye for balancing a spaces personality with practicality, all the small details that make this feel so creative have been really considered.

THE KITCHEN_

At the heart of our studio is, surpassingly the kitchen. All shoots seam to state with a briefing around the kitchen island. I guess like most good house parties where everyone ends up in the kitchen, so is true of a shoot. So we renovated our kitchen in late 2021, stripping out the ply one we installed when we first moved in for a sleek black and concrete one. We went for dark units, and dark walls to contrast against the big white studio. It was a labour of love but very worth it.
